The European Commission Presents the Industrial Accelerator Act

The European Commission Presents the Industrial Accelerator Act

The proposed Regulation is the first major implementation measure of the Clean Industrial Deal

The Commission has presented the proposal for the Industrial Accelerator Act as part of the Clean Industrial Deal, with the aim of strengthening competitiveness, decarbonization, and economic security. The proposal is structured around three pillars: stimulating demand for European industrial products, accelerating investment, and strengthening strategic supply chains.

Among the key measures, a central one is the use of public procurement as an industrial lever, with the introduction of criteria related to “made in Europe” and environmental performance to steer demand toward clean technologies produced in the EU. The text also provides for simplified authorization procedures for strategic industrial projects and targeted interventions in key sectors such as energy-intensive industries, net-zero technologies, and the automotive supply chain.

Attached is a summary of the proposal prepared by the Single Market Lab.
