The seminar, hosted at the Arel headquarters and also broadcast online, offered an in-depth analysis of the dynamics of the Italian and European gas markets at the start of the 2025-2026 thermal year.
The meeting was introduced by Alberto Biancardi (Arel), who outlined the general framework of the sector and stressed the need to ensure stable, secure and competitively priced gas supplies for Italy and the European Union in a context still characterised by volatility and uncertainty.
In connection, Enrico Letta emphasised the strategic importance of natural gas in the energy transition process, highlighting how security of supply and market stability remain indispensable conditions for the continent’s economic and industrial resilience.
Next, experts Marta Del Buono and Fabio Roccon (ICIS) presented the latest wholesale price trends, supply and demand trends, and the effects of recent geopolitical tensions on European supply routes and infrastructure. Particular attention was paid to the evolution of LNG flows and the progressive integration of continental energy markets.
The debate highlighted how diversification of sources, strengthening of networks and greater European cooperation are the keys to meeting the challenges of the coming thermal year.
The meeting proved to be a qualified moment of debate within the study and discussion process that AREL dedicates to the prospects of Europe’s energy security and industrial competitiveness.
