A webinar entitled Minimum Digital Age: comparing experiences was held on 2 April. The initiative is part of the international debate on the introduction of a minimum age threshold for access to digital services. Recently implemented is the law passed in Australia, while several European countries have launched similar initiatives. The comparison between national experiences – in particular between the Australian case and the French one, where a bill has already been approved in one of the branches of Parliament – offered an opportunity to reflect on the initial outcomes and draw useful indications for the debate and the Italian legislative process as well.
The webinar opened with an introduction by Marco Lecci (Monash University, Australia) and was moderated by Marianna Madia (Chamber of Deputies).the debate saw the interventions of Susan Sawyer (University of Melbourne), Laure Miller (French National Assembly) and Kathleen Kelly Janus (Stanford University), who illustrated approaches, criticalities and implications of the different national experiences.the conclusions were entrusted to Alessia Mosca (SciencesPo, SDA Bocconi) and Enrico Letta (AREL President).
