Arel la rivista
AREL La Rivista aims to be just that: a space for open dialogue and reflection, through interviews and essays. Conversations that are then taken further in the Conversazioni series – a collection created to focus on specific themes and dedicated to encounters with leading figures from academia, science, politics, institutions and journalism.
It all began as AREL Informazioni, a monthly mimeographed newsletter, produced “in house” at the initiative of Mino Martinazzoli during his presidency (1981 – 83). In 1985 Nino Andreatta transformed it into a registered journal with broader circulation.
Over the decades it has evolved into its current format: a quarterly publication, monographic and interdisciplinary, where each issue revolves around a single word – the pivot for open-ended studies and reflections. The editorial team is deliberately diverse – in age, training, cultural interests, ideas – and each time manages to create an original and, we hope, engaging mix.
We have tackled strong and difficult subjects alike: migration, power, truth, violence, time, chaos, freedom, equality, identity, and many more. All titles and tables of contents are available on this site, under the dedicated section.
In its pages you will find essays and interviews by authoritative voices from across disciplines, past and present. Among them: Yascha Mounk, Avraham Burg, Nicolas Schmit, Giorgio Napolitano, Michel Barnier, Romano Prodi, Paolo Gentiloni, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, Zygmunt Bauman, Javier Cercas, Leopoldo Elia, Jeffrey Alexander, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, Marc Augé, Michel Maffesoli, Rita Levi Montalcini, David Le Breton, Edoardo Boncinelli, Jeffrey Sachs, Giorgio Parisi, Giuseppe De Rita, Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa, Eugenio Scalfari, Paco Ignacio Taibo II, Emma Bonino, Pascal Lamy, Walter Veltroni, Bhaskar Sunkara, Klaus Welle, and many others.
A varied, vibrant kaleidoscope. To read and interpret the present and imagine the future, always with the past in mind.
