Agreement Reached on Customs Reform

Toward a more integrated and digitalized customs system.

The Council and Parliament have reached an agreement on the reform of the Customs Union, with the aim of modernizing controls and strengthening the functioning of the single market. The new system includes a European digital platform (EU Customs Data Hub), a more targeted approach to risk management, and new rules for e-commerce, including the end of exemptions for small shipments. It also provides for the creation of a European customs authority. The reform aims to improve competitiveness, economic security, and regulatory enforcement, but its effectiveness will depend on its operational implementation.

Attached is a summary of the agreement, in italian, prepared by the Single Market Lab.
